Additional costs
Hi
I may buy this game tomorrow at the shop, but im still not sure because im a bit confused about the extra money i may have to pay in the future for expansion sets, or are the updates free? I'm buying it for sure if updates etc are free, but probably wont if i have to pay every time a new update is out. please answer my questions, thank you. |

This information is on the main Guild Wars site.
You don't have to buy the expansion packs (which are released about every 6 months) to continue to play the game. Small updates for bugs will be made regularly, but you don't pay for this. So, basically, one time fee only. Paying extra after you buy the game is purely optional. |

just to clarify on that, IF you choose to get the expansions, you will pay for them. but as Sierra said, you dont have to get them.

I think it's fair to say that if you buy the original as a one-off payment without subscriptions, you will be able to play the game to death without any fear of hidden charges. If in 6-12 months time an expansion is released and you enjoyed the first part of the game enough you can make the decision to spend the extra cash. Let's face it, if every game you bought lasted just a few weeks you would be quite happy to buy it. I personally think it's a good way of doing it, especially if you are the sort of player who can only fit in a few hours a week.
